PILIN Ontology for Identifiers and Identifier Services

The PILIN Identifier Systems Ontology is a formal, abstract model for describing actual (or theoretical) identifier systems. The purpose of the Identifier Systems ontology is to provide a mechanism for documenting and comparing the design decisions and characteristics that are part of an identifier system. The Identifier Systems ontology is meant to be applicable to any identifier system.
